About Libby Muney, JD, LMFT

I’m Libby Muney, JD, LMFT, a licensed marriage and family therapist based in Los Angeles. Before becoming a therapist, I worked as an attorney, an experience that gives me a deep understanding of high-pressure environments, analytical thinking, and the emotional cost of always needing to have it together.

Today, I work with high-functioning individuals and couples who are navigating relationship stress, anxiety, life transitions, and the quiet feeling of being stuck, either with a partner or within themselves. Many of my clients are thoughtful and self-aware, yet find that insight alone hasn’t created the change they want.

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and grounded in attachment-based and evidence-informed work. I help clients understand the emotional patterns and protective strategies that shape how they relate, especially when overthinking, people-pleasing, emotional guardedness, or self-criticism are part of the picture.

In couples therapy, I support partners in slowing down reactive cycles, rebuilding trust, and communicating in ways that feel safer and more effective. In individual therapy, I help clients strengthen emotional regulation, build self-trust, and shift relational patterns that no longer serve them.

Therapy with me is not about quick fixes. It is about creating space for depth, relief, and sustainable change so that insight becomes lived experience.
